News from within the Hunt

Hunt Supporters Club:
The Hunt Supporters Club recently held their AGM. New officers have been appointed.
Chairman: Susan Scott
Secretary: Ema Caskie
Treasurer: Gillian Robson.
They have also handed over a cheque for the sum of £500 to the Great North Air Ambulance. This money was raised at various events held between May 2012 and May 2013. The Hunt Supporters continue to raise money for charity as well as hunt funds and are always looking to support local charities, clubs etc.

New additions:
Last season saw the arrival of four new hunt followers: Ben Hewitson, Jamie Proudlock, Abigail Gaukrodger and Jack Elliot. Hopefully the next generation of the Border Hunt.

Showing Season:
Showing season has arrived again and Thomas is out and about with the Hounds. It would be great to see some Border followers out supporting him.

New Kennels update: Work continues.

Thank you

Many thanks to all the hunt supporters from both the Border and the Haydon who helped with the birch cutting for the point to points in May.

Fire Ball Hockey

A massive congratulations to the Border Hunt Team consisting of Dan Proudlock, John Scott, Emma Caskie, Charlotte Allen, Gary Hindmarsh, Stuart (Banty) Hall and Euan Laidlow who won the fire ball hockey hosted by the Morpeth Hunt.
Eight teams took part in total with the Border coming up against the Tynedale in the final and winning 1:0. The team have kindly donated the prize money back into hunt funds.
Many thanks to the Morpeth for hosting the event

Compliment

I just wanted to say again how much Val and I enjoyed our day out with the Border Hunt. From the hospitality we received at Hindhope to the excellent days hunting we had up in the glorious country of the Cheviots, it was all a marvellous experience. Having lived in the Borders for most of my life, this was the first time I have been into the Cheviots and the views were fantastic and as stated to you, this was not so much a days hunting but more an equine adventure.
Hope to be out again with you soon.

Best regards
Callum Crawford

Hunter Trial

A very big thank you to everyone who gave up their time to help at the hunter trial recently. We had a very successful day with 189 competitors taking part and no accidents to report. This event takes a huge amount of organising and support from all hunt members and it is fantastic to see the number of supporters who turn up to help every year.
Hopefully we will be able to run the event again next year.

Inter-Hunt Quiz

On the 17th October the Border Hunt took park in the Inter-Hunt Quiz hosted by The College Valley & North Northumberland Hunt.
10 teams took part in the Quiz – The Border, The Jed Thrusters, The College Valley Clowns, The Quatre Saisons (CVNNH), The Buccleuch 255, The Buccleuch Earthstoppers, The T Birds (Buccleuch), The Buccleuch Grundison Heights, The Berwickshire Bounders and The Universally Challenged (Berwickshire) – and they answered a wide selection of questions ranging from Hunting to Pot Luck, including 2 picture rounds. Supper was served mid-way, brains were fuelled and off we went again on the home straight.
The Border Team consisting of Ema Caskie, Tom Elliot, Neil Hindmarsh and Gary Hindmarsh did us proud. Although we did not win it’s the taking part which counts and well done to our team for coming 9th.
Overall Winners on the evening were the Buccleuch Grundison Heights.
